Duran Aeducan, the Ancestors' favorite.
A royal dwarf who places honor above all else. In his veins runs the blood of Paragon Aeducan. Duran places the survival of his race at the top of his priorities. He also values honesty, loyalty and is determined to achieve his goals even if sacrifices have to be made. His weak spots are that women can easily manipulate him and his inability to understand how magic works.

Dragon Age: Origins[]
- Supports Scholar Gertek in the argument and arranges for Bruntin Vollney to be publicly killed.
- Agrees to spend the night with both Mardy and Teli during The Nobles' Feast.
- Participates in the Proving and defeats every opponent.
- Refuses to help Lord Dace by supporting an official recognition of the surface dwarves.
- Learns from the Mercenary Captain that Trian Aeducan gave him his signet ring during the expedition.
- Kills his brother and Crown Prince and does not lie to Harrowmont afterwards. He does mention however that he was attacked first.
- Feeds the prisoner by purchasing food and water from his guard since Duran is feeling sympathy for he was in a similar situation not too long ago, however no keys are taken.
- Leaves Pick alone.
- Retrieves the sealed lockbox from the Korcari Wilds and later returns it to Rigby's wife, Jetta as is requested in his will. He also disturbs the ashes. After returning from the Wilds, Duran formally joins the Grey Wardens.
- Cures the mabari hound, grudgingly takes him after the Battle of Ostagar.
- Attempts to bring the bandits to justice, and kills them upon their refusal.
- Forces the Merchant to share his goods with the refugees.
- Saves Bodahn and Sandal without asking for a reward before he takes the Imperial Highway.

- Agrees to help Kitty initially but after solving the puzzle, the demon also wants Amalia and Duran refuses. Both Matthias and Amalia are alive and neither possessed.
- Drinks the alchemical concoction and gains the Power of Blood abilities.

- Helps the village prepare for the upcoming fight in every possible way except by giving holy symbols to the knights as he considers the deception as dishonorable.
- Helps Kaitlyn find Bevin. Duran successfully persuades Bevin to give him the sword but pays 5 to Kaitlyn for it. He then gets a kiss from Kaitlyn.
- Intimidates Berwick, gets the letter, and then forces him to participate in the upcoming battle.
- Protects the village during the attack with no friendly losses.
- Gives 5 to Bella to start a new life in Denerim and gets two kisses from her.
- Leaves Jowan in his cell.
- Helps Valena escape from the castle.
- Rejects any other suggestions and confronts the Desire demon directly. In the aftermath, Isolde mercifully kills her possessed son, Connor.
- Builds a funeral pyre for King Cailan.
- Allows the female Blood Mage in the Senior Mage Quarters to escape.
- Does not agree to Cullen's request.
- Uses the Litany of Adralla and saves First Enchanter Irving before killing Uldred. After confirming to Knight-Commander Greagoir that the Tower is secure, the mages are recruited as an allied army.
- Duels Imrek because of his offensive words and kills him.
- Considers Dagna's request and talks to her father. However he is against it so he refuses to help Dagna and encourages her to stay in Orzammar.
- Doesn't help Burkel create a Chantry.
- Sucessfully persuades Rogek that he is a Grey Warden. After Rogek makes his smuggling proposition Duran attempts to bring them to justice but Rogek and his men resist and are killed.
- After completing the first task, Duran participates independently in the Memorial Proving held to honor his late father. He defeats every opponent and dedicates his victory to Bhelen.
- Does not participate in the unsanctioned Provings.
- Heals the noble in the Royal Palace.
- Returns the stolen tome to the Shaperate and threatens Jertrin who offered to buy it from Duran.
- Helps Zerlinda by successfully persuading her father to invite his daughter back and reconcile with her. Also gave her 5 when the conversation started.
- Kills the Carta thugs inside the Dust Town Home after they so readily betrayed their boss.
- Persuaded by Oghren, he puts Ruck out of his misery and as he is honor-bound he also tells the truth to Filda.
- Helps Orta reinstate her noble House and persuades her to support Bhelen's candidacy.
- Proves the Legion of the Dead's noble connection.
- Overcomes all traps and meets Caridin who he is forced to kill in order to retrieve the Anvil of the Void for Branka. She promises to prepare for him the first golem army the world has seen in a millenium.
- After returning from the Deep Roads with the crown, Duran supports Bhelen in the debate. In total Duran collected the maximum possible political support and Bhelen is crowned as the new king of Orzammar.
- Restores his son to House Aeducan and names him Endrin. Duran is also reinstated in House Aeducan. In the first encounter with Mardy he also gives her 50 to take care of their son.
- Talks to Kardol and secures the Legion's support without any convincing.
- Returns the golem registry to the Shaperate.
- Successfully persuades Athras to tell him his problem, then suggests confronting the Keeper about it. He mercifully kills Athras' wife and informs him about her fate.
- Returns Deygan to the Dalish Camp. While talking later with the hunter, Duran accepts a reward from him.
- Hears about Cammen's problem. Duran then talks with Gheyna and successfully persuades her to sleep with him. He doesn't inform Cammen afterwards about what the two of them did.
- Brings ironbark to Varathorn, but doesn't ask for anything in return since he doesn't hold Dalish crafting in much esteem.
- By using his own Survival skill, Duran saves the halla.
- Kills the Grand Oak on behalf of the Mad Hermit in order to pass through the magical barrier and reach the Brecilian Ruins.
- Destroys the ancient elf's phylactery on the stone altar after it teaches him the Arcane Warrior path.
- Believing that only Zathrian can lift the curse Duran reluctantly helps him against Witherfang and the werewolves. He then kills Zathrian after the Keeper accidentally reveals that Lanaya can perform the ritual as well.
- Accepts Ser Landry's duel and kills him.
- Kills Master Ignacio in their first meeting.
- Handles the guard contracts of Sergeant Kylon by intimidating the White Falcons and Crimson Oars. Also takes out the gangs around the city.
- Commissions the Drake Scale Armors and Dragon Scale Armor from Master Wade.
- Completes the Chanter's Board questline.
- Completes the Blackstone Irregulars questline by siding with Raelnor Hawkwind.
- Completes most of the Mages' Collective questline, the only exceptions being the Scrolls of Banastor which are not turned over and that Duran refuses to bribe Knight-Commander Harrith on behalf the Collective, however he does not also betray them to Knight-Commander Tavish. As a result the final quest is not available.
- Does not start the Favors for Certain Interested Parties questline.
- Does not start the Crime Wave questline.
- All possible encounters are generated.
- Kills 'Weylon' after catching some of his inconsistencies.
- Persuaded by Oghren, he agrees that the 'Reborn Andraste' will make a great trophy and as a result he has to fight and kill Kolgrim and the rest of the Disciples. Then at the mountain top he uses the horn to summon and hunt down the dragon.
- Passes the flames with his armor and is forced to kill the Guardian.
- Does not defile the ashes of Andraste and advises Genitivi to be careful with spreading the news about the ashes.
- Brings the ancient scrolls to Sister Justine.
- Kills Gaxkang the Unbound.
- Kills Teyrn Howe and releases Oswyn, Rexel and Soris. Vaughan is released in exchange for his vote. After rescuing Queen Anora, he refuses to surrender to Ser Cauthrien and is forced to kill her.
- Speaks with Oswyn's father, Bann Sighard and gives Irminric's ring to Bann Afstanna securing both of their votes and support.
- Enters the Alienage to investigate the ongoing unrest. He also gives some money to the Starved Veteran however he stops once the group of elves grows immensely.
- Persuades Devera to take him to Caladrius with whom he agrees to give the letter for free and take everything else and leave.
- Helps Ser Otto to root out the demonic activity from the abandoned orphanage and gives the amulet to the beggar.
- During the Landsmeet, Duran is supported by Anora and Loghain is outvoted. The Regent is then defeated in single combat by Duran. Loghain becomes a Grey Warden and Anora marries a hardened Alistair which puts an end to the civil war.
- Fully upgrades the allied armies.
- Refuses Morrigan's Ritual and the Witch leaves again.
- Kills Urthemiel at the top of Fort Drakon with Loghain making the final blow.
- During the celebrations after the Battle of Denerim, Duran is declared the Hero of Ferelden.
- Asks for Ferelden's military support to Orzammar as a boon.
- Says that the Grey Wardens need him when asked about his future plans.
- Learns from Gorim that the Assembly is considering naming him a Paragon and because of the Orzammar boon it makes his election a lock. Furthermore, Gorim is also joining House Aeducan. Duran accepts him again as his second and says that they are going back to Orzammar.
- Following months of deliberation, the Assembly unanimously declares Duran a living Paragon and a new statue is erected in the Commons. King Bhelen welcomes the human armies and within months the darkspawn are driven back as far as the Dead Trenches while the first dwarven warrior to return with a relic retaken from the gates of Bownammar is greeted by cheering, jubilant crowds.
Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening[]
- Saves the merchant and the four soldiers and brings the medical supplies to the soldiers who were wounded during the assault.
- Rescues all the survivors who are inside the Keep. After the battle the new Warden-Commander of Ferelden meets with King Alistair.
- Gives Voldrik Glavonak 80 to start working on new walls for Vigil's Keep.
- Attempts to arrest and subsequently kills the Shady Character who tried to offer him work with the smugglers.
- Completes all of the Private's and Master Wade's quests including the Vigilance commission. During the hostage mission he successfully intimidates the thugs and the lady is returned to her father.
- Empties the tunnels beneath Vigil's Keep of darkspawn and seals them. Duran also takes the offering from the Shrine of Korth.
- Accepts the Oaths of Fealty from Amaranthine's nobility. Duran chooses to protect the trade routes during the ongoing conflict. He does not persuade the nobles and Anders informs him of some rumors about a conspiracy. The Commander then chooses to pursue the Dark Wolf option.
- Pushes Dworkin Glavonak to disregard any dangers with his bomb production.
- Holds a court to judge cases:
- Alec joins the army.
- Danella is executed for desertion.
- Ser Derren receives back his land.
- Meets with the Dark Wolf and receives information about the conspiracy, however he kills the Black Fox when Duran attempts to bring him to justice.
- Travels to the Old Stark's Farm and kills the conspirators.
- During The Peasant Revolution there are some soldiers among the rioters. However the riot is peacefully resolved through persuasion.
- Stops the attacks on the trading caravans and tells Mervis to give the reward to the families.
- Finds all the metal deposits and talks to Herren in order to improve the equipment of Vigil's soldiers.
- Completes the quests offered by the Chantry of Our Lady Redeemer.
- Completes the Merchants' Guild Board questline.
- Completes the Law and Order questline.
- Does not start the Blight Orfans questline.
- All possible encounters are generated.
- Gives 1 to Colbert for his info.
- Does not disturb Paragon Hirol's sarcophagus.
- Records the casteless who defended Kal'Hirol and gives the tablet to the Glavonaks.
- Releases Steafan from his cell.
- Kills the Hunger demon who trapped the woman.
- Sides with the Baroness since she has the power to get him out of the Fade. As a reward for helping her Duran asks her to make him healthier.
- Collects all the dragon bones in the Blackmarsh and defeats the Spectral dragon.
- Sides with the Statue of Peace.
- Helps Ines Arancia with her request.
- Informs Voldrik of a granite source in the Wending Wood and sends soldiers to secure the site.
- After being captured and held in the Silverite Mine, Duran does not persuade Seranni to give up the key.
- Persuaded by Oghren, he does not use the ballista to kill the darkspawn and fights them head-on.
- Offers Armaas to work as a merchant at Vigil's Keep and the Tal-Vashoth accepts.
- Climax
- Marches to save the city of Amaranthine and does not return to assist with the siege of Vigil's Keep.
- As the Keep is fully upgraded, it does not fall during the siege.
- Orders The Messenger to be tied up and executes it before leaving.
- Refuses to cooperate with The Architect and kills it.
- Kills The Mother in The Nest.
- Duran is invited to Orzammar as a guest of honor at a feast commemorating the defenders of Kal'Hirol after Voldrik and Dworkin presented Orzammar's Shaperate with the stone marker. The Shaper read the names of the casteless off the marker, then presided over a ceremony to return them to the Stone, as befitted warriors of that stature.
- With the Blight truly over, it was time for Duran to move on. Some years later he vanishes entirely for unknown reasons.
The Golems of Amgarrak[]
- Helps Jerrik Dace find out what happened to his brother's expedition.
- Uncovers all the secrets which fully upgrade the Runic Golem.
- The Harvester is killed in the Amgarrak Thaig.

- King Bhelen builds a grandiose statue for his brother in the Hall of Heroes. Some in Orzammar falsely believe that Duran is deceased but Bhelen refuses to declare his brother dead and vows to search for their Paragon.
- During the War against the Elder One, Duran is far from Corypheus following leads that may allow the Wardens to prevent the effects of the Calling, and grant them a longer life. He also sends a letter to Inquisitor Ellana Lavellan.
Companions[]

- Visits his family and is hardened afterwards by Duran.
- Becomes the King of Ferelden and Anora is his Queen.
- After the Final Battle, Alistair says that he is satisfied with making Loghain take the final blow and dying as a result. Alistair also admits that he is grateful for making him king even though he misses the Wardens.
- 'Friendly' disposition towards Duran.
- Confronts Marjolaine after locating her in Denerim and kills her. Leliana is hardened afterwards.
- Starts a relationship with Duran. She also has a threesome with Isabela.
- Duran ends the relationship after being forced to choose by Morrigan. However, the two stay in good terms.
- After the Final Battle, Leliana says that she is organizing a royal expedition into the Deep Roads with the goal of learning more about the darkspawn.
- 'Friendly' disposition towards Duran.
- Inducted into the Grey Wardens and survives the Joining.
- Dies after taking the final blow on the Archdemon.
